Bergstrom Electric and TWEC are Out in the Field: DRU Upgrades Underway
Members enrolled in one or more load management programs from Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative may see Bergstrom Electric and/or TWEC technicians working on their property over the coming months. We are partnering with Bergstrom Electric to replace our aging load control devices with new Demand Response Units (DRUs).
These devices are located on the outside of homes, barns, sheds, and other outbuildings, and on average, each changeout takes 30 minutes. Because of the large number of upgrades happening across our service territory- and because the equipment is outdoors, no appointments will be scheduled. As part of our policy, technicians are authorized to access these exterior devices to perform maintenance and upgrades.
Why Are These Devices Being Replaced?
The current load control units are nearing the end of their service life and will soon no longer function reliably. The new DRU devices provide the same load control capabilities our programs rely on, ensuring continued performance and reliability. This upgrade is an important step in keeping our system modern, efficient, and ready for the future. If you have questions about the project or your load management participation, our team is always happy to help. Members who participate in a load management program will continue to receive their discounted rate or bill credit.
