How It Works
During times of high energy demand, TWEC may make brief, load-shaping event to automatically adjust your smart thermostat through Wi‑Fi. These small changes- typically just a few degrees-help reduce strain on the grid while keeping your home comfortable.
How It’s Different
Unlike our traditional load control program, which temporarily turns off your cooling system during an event in exchange for a special rate, this load‑shaping program simply adjusts your thermostat slightly. Your AC or air‑source heat pump continues running and circulating air—just at a slightly higher setpoint during load-shaping events. Example: If you typically keep your house set to 68° in the summer, during a load-shaping event, the thermostat will automatically adjust your set point to 72 degrees during that event.
