Investing in your cooperative

On a regular basis Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative develops a plan to maintain and upgrade our electrical distribution system assets. TWEC calls this plan our Construction Work Plan (CWP). The purpose of our CWP is to identify system investments and develop cost estimates for primary system improvements, replacement of deteriorated plant, and anticipated facilities required to serve new members or the growing electrical needs of existing members. One key component of our CWP is TWEC’s long-range load forecast that identifies changing electrical demand. Another component of our CWP is identifying aged and worn facilities.

From 2014 through the end of 2016, we will have invested approximately $6.5 Sebeka Submillion in TWEC’s electric distribution system. A majority of that investment will be for line changes and conversions. Other significant investment will occur with pole changes, wire replacement, and substation construction. In 2016, TWEC will begin/complete work on the Menahga and Sebeka substations. We are also building the Red Eye substation, northeast of Sebeka, for Minnesota Pipeline and their new Sebeka pumping station.

TWEC has assets totaling over $45 million. We will continue to work hard to maintain and improve on TWEC’s system to provide you with safe, reliable, and affordable electricity.
